Come by and say hi to us at the Market on Main September 24th! We will be there along side Grand Valley Outdoor Recreation Coalition for the final market to wrap up the season. Look for us on 5th and Main St. Starting at 5:30pm till dusk, we want to chat with you about how to make the streets safer for all- pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. We will have stickers and high fives!
Urban Trails Committee is doing a walk audit on Sept 30th at 5:30pm. They will be on 12th St and Bunting Ave looking at the pedestrian crossings to get a boots-on-the-ground perspective of a high traffic/ frequent accident area. Join in the conversation about visibility and safety measures.
Porchella is coming up on October 3rd! It's FREE live music set up around the downtown area on our neighbor's porch. Starting at 4pm, there will be hour blocks of bands in multiple locations till 9pm. And did we mention, one of the best ways to get around during this event is on your bike!
Check out the map and details below....
Week Without Driving is coming up and we invite you to try it out! Sept 27th through October 4th, if you can replace one errand trip or one commute to work on a bicycle instead of driving, you may be surprised how frequently you could incorporate it into your daily routine! If you have never experienced biking to your destination we have many resources to help you feel more prepared with safety tips and maps. And if you are more comfortable with bike commuting we challenge you to ditch your car for the whole week.
Bike Streets app is collecting where all the bike racks are! You can help add them to the map to let others know where to look for a safe place to park and lock their bike. Bike Streets is an interactive map that allows you to add safe chill routes you take through town. Once you have joined the app, select “Suggest” on the menu, then tap “Add to Map”, once you have located yourself on the map tap “Parking". Drop the Parking pin where the rack is at. It is that easy! Walk & Roll to School is Oct 7th, and we are in full support of helping our fellow young people get to school safely on their bikes. When looking for a safe route to school make sure there are sidewalks or bike paths that are easy to access curbside, your bike has proper brakes and reflectors, you have a helmet on, and everyone follows the laws of the road. Below is a list of participating schools in Mesa County.
