Grand Junction City Council Pass Amendment for
Future Bike Infrastructure
At the July 15th City Council meeting there were many who spoke up in favor of the original Zoning and Development Code to keep design standards and long term storage a requirement for new multi-residential developments, as well as some industrial and commercial sites. But City Council was not swayed. They voted 5 to 2 to pass the Amendment which does away with those requirements. Let's hope developers take it upon themselves to go above and beyond those minimum design standards and keep the residents in mind....
Good News!: Patterson Multi-use trail is Now Open
City of Grand Junction Facebook: "The Patterson Sidewalk Improvement Project runs along the south side of Patterson Road from 24 ½ Road to 25 ½ Road, connecting Pomona Elementary School to the retail area near Mesa Mall. The corridor also includes rock landscaping, pedestrian lighting, and connections to bus stops and nearby developments, creating a safer and more inviting route for families, students, and neighbors.
This project was made possible through a successful collaboration with the Grand Valley Irrigation Company (GVIC), whose land along this stretch had historically served as an open ditch and utility corridor. Years of planning between the City and GVIC helped balance pedestrian needs with existing irrigation and drainage infrastructure, turning a long identified gap in our pedestrian network into a connected, accessible path.

Redlands Pkwy Path is Now Open!
The construction along the east side of the road has been completed! Go ride some fresh concrete along Redlands Parkway from the boat launch parking lot to Blue Heron. It sure beats the asphalt path....
Be Warned: Sections of the River Trail are CLOSED
From 32 1/2 RD to Corn Lake boat ramp is closed due to infrastructure maintenance. This will remain closed till completed, which is planned to be through August.

At Shelledy Elementary, from 10am to 1pm there is an event focused on bicycle education, skills, and safety. With bicycle repairs, gift card drawings, free gifts and more! Join us in Fruita and see what it's all about! Riding a bike can be for everyone of any age, and connecting our community through cycling brings joy to everyone.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
>Bike Repair Clinics are now be EVERY Wednesday, 9am to 12pm at Sunshine Community, 1320 Ute Ave. We are looking for bike techs as well as resources: brake cable and housing, shifter cable and housing, rim brake pads, tube patches/kits, tubes 24in, 26in, 27in (700c), and any tires that are not too worn.
>We hope to see you at the Thursday Main Street Farmer's Market, downtown! If you are looking to get more involved, here is a great chance to talk to people and see more of what we do. Dates of our attendance will be announced so keep an eye out!
